Pranyama, Asanas, Mudras and Bandhas.

- Pranyama (Sanskrit: प्रन्यम) means "Extension of the breath" or "Extension of the life force". The word Pranyama comes from two Sanskrit words: "Prana" - "Life Force" or "Vital Energy" and "Ayama" - "To draw out", "Restrain", Or "Control". Pranyama is the control of energy through breathing, and helps a person focus their energy and concentration.

- Asanas (Sanskrit: असन) means "Sitting Down" and relates to the practice of sitting in a firm but relaxed position for lengths of time - the typical position used for this is the "Lotus" position. This aids in a person understanding themselves and their body, learning control and patience, and helps to focus and calm a person down.

- Mudras (Sanskrit: मुद्र) means "Mark" or "Gesture" and is a symbolic or ritualistic gesture made by the hands or the whole body. These positions or movements are used in dance and in yoga, and help to feel the energy flow and work with it. They can do anything from centering and balancing, to improving intuition and breaking through barriers. The symbols and movement for a language of there own - each gesture meaning one thing, but can be combined to mean something else.

- Bandhas (Sanskrit: बन्ध) means "Binding" and is a series of three body locks used in certain Yoga practices that alter the flow of subtle energies. The practise of these bandhas help improve concentration and overcome wandering thoughts, and correct the energy flow through out the body, helping to awaken Kundalini energy and balance the chakras.
